This is the third installment of a project that began with Kokeshium, rediscovering the charm of Japan through collaborations between traditional Japanese crafts and flowers!
This time, we have collaborated with Shirakawa Daruma from Fukushima Prefecture.
"Shirakawa Daruma" is said to have originated approximately 300 years ago, when Matsudaira Sadanobu, lord of Shirakawa Castle, seeking prosperity for the castle town, had artisans learn the "daruma" technique and held a "daruma market" in front of the main gate.
The eyebrows are cranes, the mustache is a turtle, the goatee is a pine tree, the sideburns are plums, and below the face are bamboo patterns, all stylized into the daruma.
Its plump and cheerful appearance makes it perfect for New Year's decorations. In Reiwa 4, welcome good fortune with a Shirakawa Daruma.
