hello everyone

Today I would like to introduce the nature of the Tamagawa River, a first-class river that flows near Futakotamagawa Station in Setagaya Ward, where YOUKAEN is located!
Our stores are located in Sakurashinmachi and Shimokitazawa, and Futakotamagawa Station is nearby 😊
Yes, the Tama River is full of nature! 🏵
I would like to take a look at some nature photos that I took during my walk to give you a sense of autumn.

Speaking of autumn, pampas grass 🌾
They also grow in abundance around the riverbed of the Tama River, which can be reached by a short walk from Futakotamagawa Station. I photographed pampas grass at Hyogojima Park, a park on a riverbed full of nature.
The scenery with pampas grass gently swaying in the wind makes me feel like autumn 😊
[Natural discovery at Futakotamagawa Station] Not a spring bird, but an autumn flower, the Hototogisu

This flower has a distinctive pattern🌸
It is one of the flowers synonymous with autumn. I think even people who don't know much about flowers have probably heard of the name.
The name of this flower is hototogisu☺️
Yes, it's a flower with the same name as the bird's hototogisu.
It looks a little different when written in kanji.
These flowers are native to Japan, and there are many endemic species, so it might be fun to take a walk while observing nature with an illustrated book in hand😊
[Nature discovery at Futako-Tamagawa Station] Hanasho Hane Soragi

Many of you may have seen these azalea-like flowers, which are small and clustered together, often growing in parks and along roads.
This is a flower called Abelia.
The Japanese name is Hanatsukubaneutsugi. If you write it in kanji, it’s Hanashōhane Soragi ☺️
It's like a posthumous name.
This is a plant that blooms from May to October. In other words, this is the last year for Abelia flowers 🎃
[Natural discovery at Futakotamagawa Station] Spiky plants of the Cucurbitaceae family
![[Nature discovery in Futakotamagawa autumn] Nature report of Futakotamagawa Station riverbed](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0694/5472/5400/files/column_setagaya_03_06_480x480.jpg?v=1679382599)
The riverbed of the Tama River was interesting, and I also discovered these fruits.
Nature is amazing, have you ever seen it? The fruit is very spiky, and when you look at the leaves, they look like cucurbits and vines. This fruit that makes you want to think about whether it's okay to touch is actually called arechiuri 🌰
This plant called Arechiuri is a so-called invasive species that is designated as a specific alien species in Japan.
Even though it is called natural, alien species have a strong reproductive capacity and seem to be a problem.
It seems that they carry out activities to exterminate the lizardfish every year near the Tama River and the Futakotamagawa River.
By the way, it looks like you can eat the buds of the gourd! I have never eaten it, but I heard that it tastes like it's not inedible.
However, since it is a natural product, we do not recommend consuming it indiscriminately.
[Futakotamagawa Station Nature Discovery] Small purple flowers will catch your eye.

Purple flowers that grow on the riverbed of the Tama River☺️
It's probably a flower called Willow Hanagasa, but it hasn't fully bloomed yet, so it doesn't have much of itself.
It's a plant that grows all over the country, so it's not necessarily an autumn flower, but when I walk around, the vivid purple color catches my eye and I think it's beautiful.
Autumn around Futakotamagawa Station is so much fun, with its rich, vivid colors even though they are natural.
[Nature Discovery at Futakotamagawa Station] The classic autumn leaves are maple leaves!

Finally, the familiar autumn leaves (momiji)🍁
The words ``koyo'' and ``momiji'' are the same kanji, so they must be read from the context.
The leaves are moth-eaten, but I feel like the more wild they are, the more atmospheric they look.
Of course, you won't be able to buy them at a flower shop, but you can appreciate the beauty of autumn leaves that are unique to nature.
How was that. This is autumn around Setagaya Futakotamagawa Station!
