This is the third installment of a project to rediscover the charm of Japan through collaborations between traditional Japanese crafts and flowers, which began with Kokeshium.
This time, we collaborated with Shirakawa Daruma from Fukushima Prefecture.
It is said that Shirakawa Daruma originated approximately 300 years ago when Matsudaira Sadanobu, the lord of Shirakawa Castle, promoted the prosperity of the castle town by having artisans learn the "daruma" technique and set up a "daruma market" in front of the Otemon gate.
The eyebrows represent a crane, the beard a turtle, the chin beard a pine tree, the sideburns a plum blossom, and the pattern below the face represents bamboo.
Its cheerful appearance is its most distinctive feature, making it perfect for a New Year's decoration. In Reiwa 3, please welcome good fortune with a Shirakawa Daruma.
