When should I send Obon gifts?

The period for sending Obon gifts varies by region.
In Kanto and Tohoku, it's from early July to July 15th, while in Kansai and other regions, it's from mid-July to August 15th. It's recommended to check based on the region you are sending to.
If you forget to send it, you can send it as a "Shochu Omimai" (summer greeting) or "Zansho Omimai" (late summer greeting).
Both Obon gifts and Shochu Omimai share the same intention: "wishing for the recipient's good health."
